- Clean the items you wish to sell. To max. your profit the item should look nice.
- Don’t over price items. MOST people will NOT ask you to reduce your prices. If they think your over priced they may leave before seeing the rest of your sale. If someone wants you to come down on a price and you don’t want to, take their name and phone # to call them after the sale if item doesn’t sell.
- If the item is current place the weekly add next to the item so people know what a deal they are getting. (ex: a mixer retails for $70.99 and you sell it for $10, if they see the add they will know what a deal they are getting)
- Put a sign out on the curb to clearly mark you are having a sale. Some people may not stop if they think you just have a garage full of junk.
- Price each item. If you get busy people won’t have to hunt you down for prices.
- Keep the money on you, in a fanny pack etc.
- Have bags for people who buy a lot.
- If you have clothes pin outfits together so they don’t get separated when people sort through them.
- Also, if you have name brand clothes (esp. kids) put them to the side or hang them so people notice them more.
- If you have lots of clothes it is good to organize them into boxes or piles by sizes. It will keep them looking nicer and make a lot less work for you.
- If you have electronics or toys to sell have and electrical outlet or batteries ready to show people the item works…
